Flint Group Packaging Inks has introduced its ONECode Universal Bases in Europe, aiming to enhance efficiency and flexibility for flexible packaging converters. These innovative, nitrocellulose-free concentrates are compatible with various resins, including Nitrocellulose (NC) and Polyurethane (PU), enabling their use across multiple ink formulations. This compatibility allows converters to produce both NC and PU-based inks from a single set of concentrates, streamlining ink management and reducing inventory complexity.
The Universal Bases are designed for diverse applications, such as surface printing, medium, and high-performance lamination, including sterilization processes. They are monomeric plasticizer-free, ensuring low migration characteristics suitable for printing on various films and foils. The mono-pigmented base scheme delivers clean shades, providing an extensive color gamut for high-quality print results.
Stephen Butler, Product Manager Packaging Inks Europe at Flint Group, highlighted that this development represents a standardized approach to ink formulation. He emphasized that the ONECode Universal Bases simplify ink room processes, support lean production principles, and drive continuous improvement in print operations. By utilizing a single base technology compatible with multiple ink systems, printers can improve equipment efficiency and achieve cost savings through reduced ink inventories and minimized process waste.
The introduction of ONECode Universal Bases is part of Flint Group’s broader ONECode solvent-based ink and coating range in Europe. This portfolio includes MatrixCode UNV for gravure printing and HelixCode UNV for flexographic and/or gravure printing, offering converters a comprehensive solution to meet current and future printing demands.
